Sold: WW2 Luftwaffe Glashutte Tutima Chronograph (No.207393)

Sold:-

This is a very nice Luftwaffe Glashutte Tutima chronograph from WW2.

Serial number is 207393 which dates the watch to late 1942.

The dial is marked with the 'Tutima'  logo and 'Glashutte' and is in very good original condition.

The hour and minute hands still have the original radium lume which has dis-coloured in places with age.

This lume can be replaced and colour matched to the original aged lume if required.

The wristwatch is manufactured by 'UFAG' (Uhrenfabrik AG).

The case is in heavy nickel-silver plate over brass.  The case plating is in very good condition - far better than is normally seen on these watches.

There is wear of the plating on the pusher caps and the lower reset cap is a replacement but is a very good match with the shape and patina of the upper cap.

The original crown is still fitted and is in very good condition.

The original rotating 'multi-tooth' stamped bezel ring is still fitted which has a position at 12 'O' clock that would originally have been painted red.

The matt black dial has a constant seconds subsidiary dial along with an elapsed 30-minute dial.

The outside of the stainless-steel screw on rear case cover has the engraved watch/movement number 207393.

The inside of the rear case cover has the machine stamped wording 'WASSERGESCHUTZT' (water resistant) & BODEN EDELSTAHL (cover stainless steel) along with manufacturers name and location 'UHRENFABRIK AG. GLASHUTTE (Sa)'.

The fitted plexi-glass is the original  and is in very good condition.

The watch has a 15 Ligne Calibre 59 chronograph movement with 21 jewels, mono-metallic screw balance and self-compensating Breguet hairspring.

The movement is cosmetically and mechanically in really excellent condition and has the rarely seen silver plating.

The movement has the matching number to the case number (207393).

The watch movement has been lubricated and tested and is running very well. The chronograph mechanism is working correctly.

On my test machine the movement is running at an average +3secs/day which is remarkable for a military watch that is 80 years old.

I have fitted a good quality Jurgens Flieger strap in black but alternative options are available if required.

This is an excellent example in very good condition and a great opportunity to purchase a piece of real history from WW2.
