WW2 Glashutte Tutima Urofa 59 Pilots Watch No. 209294- Full Restoration :-


This is a watch that I recently restored for a customer.


As you can see from the 'before' pics below the watch pushers were missing. Also the balance hairspring had been pulled out of shape.


The watch had been used a lot and the bezel was partly worn away !


I have detailed below the work that was done.

Before Restoration

After Restoration

Movement restoration:

  • Complete strip down to each individual part followed by cleaning & inspection
  • Movement rebuilt & lubricated.
  • Following replacement parts supplied & fitted –

o    Mainspring (worn)

o    Set bridge (broken)

o    Chrono runner (broken pivot & worn wheel)

o    Complete balance assembly (damaged hairspring & pivot)

  • Seized chronograph adjusters punched out, cleaned, oiled & refitted


Case restoration:

  • Case cleaned
  • x2 complete pusher assemblies comprising pusher caps, seals, washers, screws & springs supplied and fitted (original parts missing / damaged).
  • Replacement pusher caps ‘aged’ to suit wear & patina of the watch.
  • Replacement plexi-glass supplied & fitted
  • Replacement rotating bezel & spring supplied and fitted. Bezel aged to suit patina

Watch re-assembled:

  • Dial cleaned
  • Hour & minute hands - non-original lume replaced with ‘antique’ colour lume.
  • Replacement sweep secs hand supplied & fitted (original had worn centre boss)
  • Jurgens black leather ‘Flieger’ strap supplied and fitted
  • Watch set to work
  • Watch tested and adjusted for time keeping and chronograph operation                             
  •  A full photographic record was taken of the restoration
